Sri Lankan University lecturers/Teachers union FUTA plans to recommence their campaign to win a budgetary allocation of 6% GDP for the country's education sector.
The Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) will re-launch the public campaign on April 2.
FUTA Spokesperson Dr. Mahim Mendis last month said that the university lecturers are committed to winning a 6% GDP budgetary allocation for the education sector and would continue with the campaign that commenced last year.
Members of the FUTA carried out a three month strike last year campaigning for a salary hike for university lecturers and a 6% GDP for education.
According to FUTA, the campaign will be re-launched with the support from other organizations and movements.
