Sri Lanka Ministry of Higher Education sources say that measures are underway to conduct a psychological evaluation or a Mental Health Test for the freshmen students of the universities.
Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama said that the Commission was discussing the issue with the relevant authorities.
She told media that the University Grants Commission was considering the Mental health test due to the recent developments in the universities.
The government has already introduced a mandatory leadership training program as a solution to instill confidence and leadership qualities in students to resolve the problem.
Sri Lanka's universities are famous for notorious ragging, student protests and violence. Frequent clashes among Student groups are common resulting in injuries to students and loss of academic activities.
Recently, several university students have also committed suicides in the premises due to ragging or academic pressure.
