The Education Ministry has decided to prepare a fresh three-year Education Plan for Pirivena educational institutions.
The ministry has set apart three months to receive and consider ideas, suggestions, views and other inputs contributed by academics and teachers for the new Education Plan.
Once the plan is prepared, it will be presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
An Education Ministry official said, the ministry is confident of resolving most of the issues faced by the pirivena teachers through the new three-year Education Plan.
There are 794 pirivenas in the country. Around 62,000 clerics and laypersons follow lessons, regularly. Over 6,500 teachers, both clergy and lay, teach in pirivenas across the country. Extract from Online CeylonToday
