Applications to sit Korean language exam issued from April 27 to 30.
Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) announced yesterday that the applications for the 14th Korean Language Proficiency Examination (KLPE) would be issued from April 27 to 30.
The examination was scheduled to be held on June 13 and 14 in Colombo and the Korean job seekers could receive their exam application at 16 countrywide SLBFE district offices.
It is envisaged to provide about 5000 Korean jobs for Sri Lankans in their manufacturing sector and all applicants are advised to apply for jobs only in the production sector.
The bureau explained that an applicant should possess a valid passport to fill the application and the applications would be issued free of charge.
The exam fees would be 24 USD (Rs. 3252), the bureau said.
Foreign Employment Minister Thalatha Athukorala said the names of the applicants would be placed on Korean jobs website for two years.
She assured that there was no political interference in the Korean job programme and the complete process was handled by the Korean Human Resource Development Agency.
Therefore, the Minister requested the public not to fall into the traps and pay money to unlawful persons in order to get a Korean job.
SLBFE also noted that the jobs would be offered only if there were vacancies in the manufacturing sector and Sri Lankan government could not influence to the process.
All applicants should be between the age of 18 and 39, the bureau added.
