Mahapola & Bursary Payments increased for Sri Lanka University Students!Cabinet approval was given to increase the Mahapola Scholarship and Bursary payment with effect from 1 May.
This decision was made following a proposal presented by the Minister of Higher Education and Research Dr. Sarath Amunugama. It was proposed in the 2015 Budget to increase the Mahapola Scholarship payment to 5,000 rupees with effect from 1 July in order to create an atmosphere of confidence among the student population and increase the Bursary payment from 2,000 rupees to 2,500 rupees. As a result the Government announced that they would be increasing the Mahapola scholarship and Bursary payment from 1 May.
