"We started this championship at Shalika ground in 2001 as a small event under the guidance of the founding father RIT Alles, and today this has become a flagship event among the leading International schools in the country," said Dr. Harsha Alles, Chairman of The International School of Sri Lanka (TISSL) and the Chairman of Gateway College.
Athletes from 25 international schools will compete in 130 events where 300 officials will be busy conducting competition under rules and regulation of the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka.
"Over the years our athletes from International Schools have gone beyond school level and won international medals for the country. All of them came through this ISAC championship," Dr. Alles added.
Shehan Ambepitiya, Nadeeshani Henderson, Ireshani Rajasinghe, Keith de Mel are a few of them from Gateway College who won international medals for Sri Lanka.
The championship will be fully computerized from web based entries, to instant access of results and scores through isaclk.com, which has been designed and developed by Gateway Consultancy Services.
"We are developing day by day. We have produced international medal winners for the nation over the last few years. Only one school out of 25 schools of us has a proper ground. Yet our schools have taken care of their athletes in order to produce best results. We should appreciate their tremendous service," said Dr. Alles.
"There are over 40,000 students in our 25 schools and well over 95% of them are Sri Lankans and these are students who aren't a burden for the system and of course we invite everyone to watch their talent at Sugathadasa Stadium over three days," Dr. Alles said.

Best male and female athletes of the last year Udantha Bandara and Shanika Fernando will light the Olympic torch. The CEO of SLT Mobitel Kapila Chandrasena will participate as chief guest at the opening ceremony.
Managing Director of main sponsor of the event, Pearson's Qualification International, Manos Kapererian will fly here from UK to grace the closing ceremony.
